Good evening everyone and welcome to Anfield for tonight’s match thread, as Liverpool look to return to the top of the Premier League with a win over relegation-bound Sheffield United.
A routine home win? A big win? We’re all hoping, but three points of any kind is the order of the day right now. Get the job done ahead of Old Trafford on Sunday and we can all relax. For a day or two.
Gosh, they are not going to make it easy for us fans aren’t they? Could have finished the game if we were more clinical in the first half. Wasn’t sure about Salah's sub but the subs did good and changed the tempo of the game. Mac Allister, you 💎
Take that 3 points, thank you very much and we are back at the top. 🏆
Anfield is nervy now. Liverpool had been a little flat prior to the goal and paid the price. Robertson and Elliott are on for Gravenberch and Salah, with Gomez holding midfield.
33' Mac Allister close to a second after a lovely dummy from Szoboszlai from Díaz's pass. Liverpool well on top but a second (and a third) would be nice!
15' Liverpool have responded well to that dodgy first minute. Salah looks dangerous, Bradley is getting into good positions and Sheffield United are having to defend their box with desperation.
7' A couple of chances for Liverpool. Salah with a clipped effort tipped behind by Grbic from Gomez's cross, and Gomez then picks out Núñez from a short corner and his header is glanced wide.
1' Eek. Sheffield United should be an ahead. A throw in from the left is hurled into the box by Robinson, flicked on and Bogle is free at the back post. Kelleher saves with his feet and the subsequent corner causes mayhem too before missing everyone at the back post. Steady.
Told there's not much to worry about with Wataru Endō - fingers crossed that is an accurate assessment. I suppose if there was a game where you could leave him out without too much fear, this is it.
Early goal tonight for Liverpool would be most welcome.
It wouldn’t be Liverpool if we didn’t stress out watching the next 9 games (The Big 9 some are saying). Sheffield United will know they have to sit deep and frustrate us here, which might mean we find it hard to break them down. I’m confident that we’ll win, but I hope we pull them apart without too much stress for us all.

Been slow and sloppy most of the match.. ugh.. a lesson in how not to win the league..
59' Goal. Liverpool 1-1 Sheffield United.
That's what happens if you don't kill teams off. It's an own goal by Bradley. A header from Hamer at the far post deflects off him and in.
Good grief
52' We're playing again, and Liverpool are on the front foot again. Still looking for that elusive second goal though.

Great atmosphere in here as the teams get ready to start. Get the job done, Reds!
I could see Dom returning to that peak early season form tonight.

Like the team, there again I like most teams put out. Hoping we sort game out so subs get a go. Main thing is though, like you say, 3 points.
