Depending on your viewpoint, being sent out on loan by a club such as Liverpool can be the making of a player or the beginning of the end.
For every Harvey Elliott, who thrived during a spell with Blackburn Rovers, or Jarell Quansah, who took his first steps in senior football with Bristol Rovers, there will be another example of a young player who has found life tough away from Anfield, who has found the demands of the Championship, League One or the Scottish Premiership, and the coaches, managers and players within those leagues, too much to handle.
This season, the Reds have sent no fewer than 18 players out on loan - some of them twice - with mixed results.
